Optical Hopscotch
This project utilizes collaboration for all class students. It allowed us to express our opinions and ideas as well as working together with others as well. The screen print also uses colors which is a field of expressing emotions as well. The final product was successful and it was the first work that everyone collaborated together.
Invisible Imprint
This invisible imprint uses colors and lines to portray the hidden message in society.
This particular work focussed on the use of colors and texture to demonstrate and convey a message to the public. My piece of work focussed on the strength and weakness that humans have to face throughout their day. Society had created a boundary of how someone should act in public, they must be steady and happy and strong. It does not allow you to breakdown in front of everyone and it is seemed as weak. However, I wanted to address that it is okay to feel sad and unhappy sometimes and that we can express it because at the end of the day we are human. I conveyed the message by carving the words ‘I am Strong I am Steady’ repeatedly throughout the piece, also I carved four images of girls in the middle of the poster. The girls represent everyone and that they have this ‘word’ repeated inside their heads all the time so they are reminded that they must not break down. I used the colors of white and blue, blue represents a subtle and sad tone which associates to the message that we are able to feel sad and that’s okay. The process of creating the poster initiated patience and strength in carving, printing as well as trying to convey the message. I’ve decided to stick the poster on the hallway to remind everyone that once in awhile they can be allowed to feel what their true heart desires even if it releases their weak side. It could be shown that EVERYONE has feelings and not everyone is always happy. |
Everyday in a New Way
I used performance of objects coming of of unusual place, the mouth. This was a metaphor to how the words we speak or say could become so real just like objects and that they can physically hurt and make you feel good. I also used colors in the background to create visual communication to the audience, allowing the audience to feel something once the colors are displayed. The reason behind the colors were to associate the feelings towards the actions. They all have a bright tone to show how life is full of colors and different emotions.
Beyond A Shadow of A Doubt
This project focussed on shadows and hatching to create tones within the drawing. I used light and dark tones of the lines of pencil to create the texture and life for the images. I observed 5 objects including the telephone, two different shaped glass bottles, a clock and a small container. The lights were used to emphasize the light and dark tones of the drawing which implemented shadows.
The sketch book exercise allowed us to identify the different areas of a picture/ drawing which allowed us to see the cast shadows, transitions and core shadows etc. Another work was to create a sphere from drawing a circle, using shadows and tones we are able to create a 3D object. |
X Marks the Spot Concept
I used line to utilize shapes and textures in my drawing. I observed plants and how their structures and shapes could be drawn to express their textures. I learned how to use cross hatching, hatching and stumbling in my work to produce a piece of drawing. The techniques are able for us to express the lines in the drawing so the drawings have characters and could express emotions. Such as heavy lines would mean that something is being emphasized or could represent feelings of anger or even being strong.
Do you see me like I see you>?
In the project, I decided to create a sketch of the scenery that I liked and added other elements to the scenes such as a person standing, looking out onto the sea. Also, I added buildings to the sides of the drawing to show contrast between nature and man made objects. I believe it showed who I was because it is a combination of something that is made without us being able to do anything about it and another is something we thought of. I believe it represented me because I was born despite having an option but what I do from now on would be up to me. I didn't want to draw a self-portrait because I believe that there are more to a person than just their appearance.
Prior to the project, I drew a self portrait and a drawing from my memory. I decided to draw my mother because she had distinct features in her face and that I can close my eyes and see her right in front of me, it also shows how I have bonded with my mother so much that I could remember alot from just my memory.
